Translated into English, Katana means the curved, single-edge sword used by Samurai, their weapon of choice.
In tree talk, we simply say “man-powered chain saw.” This beefy, two-handed folding saw from Silky is currently the biggest in its class.
Available in three lengths: standard with a huge 500mm blade and gigantic with a 650mm blade. Our latest acquisition is the enormous 1000mm blade.

This saw is designed to prune large branches. It has a tooth style which will cut all timbers with ease. It has a taper ground blade, which reduces friction when cutting, because the blade tapers in thickness making the teeth the thickest part of the blade. This allows the cutting stroke to feel very easy and fast.
The teeth are not set and they graduate in size from front to end of the blade. This style of tooth also makes a larger cut than the thickness of the blade, reducing the chance of the blade jamming in the cut. The teeth are sharpen able, all you need is a diamond shaped file, which you can order in our accessories section.
The blades are made from a special, very strong steel developed by Silky Saws that is also quite flexible, which is very important in a hand saw. The blades have a special coating which gives them some protection from rust and resin. The handles are made out of a special award winning rubber designed by Silky Japan. It is called GOM and it is extremely comfortable to hold. It absorbs a lot of the vibrations you get when cutting and allows you to have a very good grip, even when your hands are damp. All parts are replaceable, so if you loose anything you can order replacement parts, i.e. screws, blades, handles.
Silky Saws are also very easy to clean, just wipe down with hot soapy water and then spray with lanolin to protect your lifelong investment.
